The Tennessee Higher Education Commission is required, by legislative statute, to study the use of public funds for higher education in Tennessee and to analyze programs and needs in the field of higher education. Additionally, TCA 49-5-5024 requires the Commission to annually submit a performance report that documents qualitative improvements in public higher education.

The Policy, Planning and Research division is directly responsible for the collection, analysis and dissemination of data to support these mandated initiatives.
