We, along with other law enforcement agencies, are cracking down on illegal drugs, but we know prescription opioids are powerful drugs which can have devastating consequences if misused. I believe removing illegal prescription drugs off the street is incredibly important because they often find their way into the wrong hands. Recently, we’ve seen children in possession of these pain pills. Our department is taking a proactive role in ensuring expired and unused prescription drugs are collected in the community. Proper disposal of unused drugs is very important to save lives as well as foster a safer environment. I am proud of the work we are doing in our community. We encourage our residents to bring their expired and unused medications to the drop off box located at the local Criminal Justice Center in Bolivar. In September of 2018, we collected over 400 pounds of prescription drugs!
