The THRAB encourages applications for NHPRC grants from colleges and universities, historical societies, local goverments and other agencies or institutions which collect and preserve historical records.

Obtaining an NHPRC Grant Through THRAB
In order to participate in the grants program of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), each state is required to have an active state historical records advisory board.
Applicants should submit proposals to the THRAB coordinator who in turn will schedule a review by the Board. As a result of this screening process, some proposals may require revision prior to submission to the NHPRC. Categories and submission deadlines for Board review are:
April 15 (June 1 NHPRC deadline): Electronic records projects.
August 15 (October 1 NHPRC deadline): Projects to increase access to and use of historical records (including educational and promotional activities, arrangement and description, and projects to increase availability of collections). Also to include projects to establish institutional archival and records programs which are significant to the overall archival development of the state.
December 15 (February 1 NHPRC deadline): Projects to improve state archives and records programs or state-based support for local government records projects which may include funding for local governments whose records have more than local significance.
