DeKalb County
DeKalb County was formed in 1837 from
Cannon, Jackson and White counties
(Acts of Tennessee 1839-40, Chapter 2).
The county seat is Smithville.

Newspapers were published in Alexandria, Liberty and Smithville. Scattered early issues are available from 1896, and a complete run begins in 1958. Microfilms are loaned to Tennessee libraries.
