Region 4 (East Tennessee) Dove Fields

Buffalo Springs

Crops planted: 15 acres total of corn, wheat, popcorn, sunflower, and buckwheat.

Hunt Dates: Same as statewide seasons. Opens at noon on September 1.

WMA Small Game Permit is required.

Directions: (Grainger County) From Knoxville take the Rutledge Pike Exit (Hwy. 11W) off Interstate 40 north through Blaine to Joppa. Just past Joppa School, take the first road to the right (Owl Hole Gap Road), go 3.7 miles and turn right on Indian Ridge Road. Then go 0.6 miles and turn left on the gravel road at the Buffalo Springs WMA sign. 

From Jefferson City , TN take Hwy 92 toward Rutledge. Go 1.4 miles north past Cherokee Dam and turn left on Owl Hole Gap Rd. Then go 4.9 miles and turn left on Indian Ridge Road . Then go 0.6 miles and turn left on the gravel road at the Buffalo Springs WMA sign.

Chuck Swan

Crops planted: 25 acres of wheat.

Hunt Dates: Same as statewide seasons. Opens at noon on September 1.

Directions: Take Hwy. 33N out of Knoxville, cross Norris Lake; go approximately 1 mile and turn left on Sharps Chapel Road; this dead ends into Chuck Swan. Dove fields will be at the end of Forks of the River Rd. (about 14 miles from the gates).

Cove Creek

Crops planted: 4 acres of sunflower.

Hunt Dates: Same as statewide seasons. Opens at noon on September 1.

Directions: From Knoxville; Take I-75 North, to Exit 134 (Caryville Jacksboro Exit) turn right onto Hwy 63 (General Carl W. Stiner Highway) drive approximately 5.4 miles to the intersection of Hwy 63 and Towe String Road.  Turn right onto Towe String Road; drive approximately 4 miles to the intersection of Towe String Road and River Road.  Turn left onto River Road; drive approximately 2 miles to the intersection of River Road and Pinecrest Road.  Turn left onto Pinecrest Road.  Drive approximately 5.8 miles to the intersection of Pinecrest Road, Macedonia Road, and Reed Lane.  At this intersection you will see a large TWRA sign designating Cove Creek WMA.  Turn right onto Macedonia Road.  Drive approximately 1.5 miles.

From Morristown; Take Hwy 25E (Dixie Highway) to Tazewell (Intersection of Hwy 25E and Hwy 33) turn right.  Drive approximately 9.25 miles to the intersection of Hwy 25E and Hwy 63 (General Carl W. Stiner Highway); turn left onto Hwy 63.  Drive approximately 34 miles to the intersection of Hwy 63 and Towe String Road.  Turn left onto Towe String Road; drive approximately 4 miles to the intersection of Towe String Road and River Road.  Turn left onto River Road; drive approximately 2 miles to the intersection of River Road and Pinecrest Road.  Turn left onto Pinecrest Road.  Drive approximately 5.8 miles to the intersection of Pinecrest Road, Macedonia Road, and Reed Lane.  At this intersection you will see a large TWRA sign designating Cove Creek WMA.  Turn right onto Macedonia Road.  Drive approximately 1.5 miles.

Forks Of The River

Crops planted: 30 acres of sunflower, 10 acres of millet, 6 acres of buckwheat

Hunt Dates: September 1 (12:00 noon), 6, and every day thereafter during the statewide dove seasons.

WMA Small Game Permit is required.

Directions: In Knoxville, cross the South Knoxville Bridge and exit right at the first exit. Turn left and continue to the end of road. Turn right on Island Home Ave and continue past Ijams Nature Center. Cross railroad track, and turn at next left on McClure Road. Go to the end of the road.

Kyles Ford

Crops planted: 30 acres of top-sown wheat. 

Hunt Dates: Same as statewide season. Opens at noon on September 1.  

WMA Small Game Permit is required.

Directions: From Morristown, travel 6.1 miles on U.S. 25E north. Take U.S. 11W north and travel 19.8 miles toward Rogersville. Take Hwy. 70 north and travel 16.8 miles to Kyles Ford. Turn right on Horton Ford Road and travel approximately 1 mile to the dove field.

Lick Creek Bottoms

South Mohawk Field

Crops planted: 60 acres of wheat, 2 acres of millet and buckwheat.

Hunt Dates: (non-toxic shot only) Opens at noon on September 1,6, and everyday thereafter during statewide season except September 6 is youth/adult only from sunrise to noon and then open to all hunters.

Directions: Take McDonald Road and turn south on to South Mohawk Road and go approximately 1.5 miles and the field is on the left.

WMA Small Game Permit is required.

Joachim Bible Refuge

Crops planted: 38 acres of wheat. 2 acres of buckwheat.

Hunt Dates: (non-toxic shot only) Juvenile/adult only.  Opens Sept.6 and every day thereafter during the first and second statewide segments.

WMA Small Game Permit is required.

Directions: Joachim Bible Refuge: Get off Exit 15 on I-81; take Hwy. 340 South (i.e., Fish Hatchery Road). Then go 4 miles and turn left on Hwy. 348 West. Then go 3.5 miles and turn right at Concord Road (Pettit’s Grocery). Then go 1.2 miles and turn right at Matthews Lane. The field is at the end of the road.

Claiborne County Leased Field 1

Hickory Corner Dairy Field

Crops planted: 40 acres of corn silage

Hunt Dates: September 1 (noon-sunset), 5, and 6.

Directions: Take I-75 out of Knoxville. Take exit 134 towards Jacksboro/Lafollette.  Travel on HWY 25 N/TN 63 E for approximately 28.2 miles and turn right onto Watson Lane.  Travel 200’ and turn left onto Old HWY 63E.  Drive .1 miles and turn right onto Aaron Davis Lane.  Continue .4 miles and arrive at the leased field on the right.

Note:  Road signs are missing once you travel off of HWY 63E.  Lease field signs will be posted to assist your navigation beyond this point.

Claiborne County Leased Field 2

Crops planted: 40+ acres of corn silage.

Hunt Dates: September 1 (noon-sunset), 5, and 6.

Directions: Take I-75 out of Knoxville. Take exit 134 towards Jacksboro/Lafollette.  Travel on HWY 25 N/TN 63 E for approximately 30.7 miles.  Turn left onto Sharp Road.  The first and largest portion of this lease is located on the left side of Sharp Road and adjacent to Highway 63. 

Note:  There are two smaller fields that are included with this lease.  Continue .7 miles on Sharp Road and turn left onto Quarry Road.  Travel .4 miles to a 10 acre field on the right.  From this field, continue an additional .2 miles on Quarry Road to a 12 acre field on the left.

Greene County Leased Field 1

Crops planted: 40 acres of corn silage. (Bob Campbell Dove Field)

Hunt Dates: September 1 (noon - sunset), 5, and 6.

Directions: From Greeneville, travel Hwy. 11E east. Turn left on Clear Springs Road, just before crossing into Washington County. Go approximately 2.1 miles and turn left on Old Stage Road. Travel 1.2 miles and turn right on Chandler Road. The field is on the right. Look for the signs.

Note: This is handicapped accessible. Chuckey Doak (CD) FFA Alumni will provide transportation to hunting spots, via Gators and/or golf carts for handicapped individuals. Additionally, the CD FFA Alumni will have food and drinks available for a small fee.

Greene County Leased Field 2

Crops planted: 30 acres of corn silage. Drilled with oats.

Hunt Dates: September 1 (noon-sunset), 5, and 6.

Directions from Greeneville:
1065 Baskette Rd Greeneville. Traveling east on 11E turn left onto Rheatown Rd. (Hwy 351).  Travel .4 miles and turn right on Old Stage Rd. Travel .4 miles then veer left onto Jockey Rd. Travel 3.2 miles before turning right onto Milburnton Rd. Travel .9 miles then turn left onto Armstrong Rd. After traveling .8 miles turn right on Paul Baskette. Field will be on right.  Look for signs.

Jefferson County Leased Field

Crops planted: 23 acres of corn silage.

Hunt Dates: September 1 (noon-sunset), 5, and 6.

Directions from Jefferson City: Traveling east on 11E turn right at McDonalds. Traveling west on 11E turn left at McDonalds. 
Go to traffic light on Hwy 92 straight through the intersection. (This is Flat Gap Road). Go 2.5 miles signs will be on left

From I-40:
Go north on Hwy 92 towards Jefferson City, Turn left on Hinchey Hollow and follow to Flat Gap Road which is on right (Church on left)  field is .6 miles on the right.

Loudon County Leased Field 1

Billy Barr Dove Field

Crops planted : 70 acres of corn silage.

Hunt Dates: September 1 (opens at noon), 5, and 6.

Directions: Take I-75 south to Exit 68. Turn right (west) on Pond Creek Road. Go one-quarter mile. The field is on the left.

Loudon County Leased Field 2

Josh Watson Dove Field

Crops planted : 40 acres of silage with top-sown wheat.

Hunt Dates: September 1 (opens at noon), 5, and 6.

Directions: Take I-75 to Exit 68 (Pond Creek Road/Philadelphia). Turn West and go 1.7 miles to Harris Road on the left. Turn and follow Harris Road until it runs into Washington Pike. Field on right at intersection

Loudon County Leased Field 3

George Gettys Farm

Crops planted : 42 acres of corn silage with top-sown wheat.

Hunt Dates: September 1 (opens at noon), 5, and 6.

Directions: I-75 south to Exit 68, turn right (west) on Pond Creek Road and go 1.7 miles. Turn left on Harris Road go to the end of the road. Turn left on Washington Pike and go 2 miles. Field is on the left.

Loudon County Leased Field 4

Simmons Farm

Crops planted: 40 acres of corn silage.

Hunt Dates: September 1 (noon-sunset), 5, and 6.

Directions: I-75 to exit 68 (Philadelphia/Pond Creek Rd). Turn to the East and go just over half of a mile and field is on left past Galyon Road.

Washington County Leased Field 1

Crops planted : 30 acres of corn silage (10 of these are top sown with wheat). (Ward Dove Field)

Hunt Dates: September 1 (noon-sunset), 5, and 6.

Directions: From Old State Route 34 turn onto Washington College Road. Travel approximately 3/4 mile and the dove field is on the right at the intersection of Ward Rowe Road. Look for the signs.

Washington County Leased Field 2

Crops planted : 50 acres of corn silage. (Nelson Dove Field)

Hunt Dates: September 1 (noon-sunset), 5, and 6.

Directions: 335 Gravel Hill Rd. From Highway 11E turn onto Clear Springs road headed south. You will veer left onto Old State Rt 34 after approximately .2 miles.  Travel approximately 2 miles then  stay straight onto Taylor Mill Rd.  (Old SR 34 veers to left) At intersection turn right on Gravel Hill Rd. Look for the signs.
