The TWRA offers several firing ranges and hunter education centers throughout the state for public use. In addition, archery ranges and Hunter Education classes are also available at some of the ranges as well, in addition to other services. Be sure to check with each range and center to see what is offered!

Indoor 25-yard range open to the public. No shotguns or center-fire rifles.

All guns must be in a case before entering the facility. No holstered weapons, regardless of concealed weapon permit.
Directions: From I-40, take the Appling Road Exit. Proceed north on Appling Road and cross over Stage Road. Approximately 800 yards on the right side you will see a service road. There is a green Hunter Education sign on the light pole. The service road is right after the green sign.
Open 12:00 noon until dark every day.
Fee required: Adult (age 16 or older - $5.50 for 2 hours), Youth (under 16 years of age - $1.50 for 2 hours). Must purchase the range entrance ticket from a TWRA license agent. No tickets available at the range.

The Prentice Cooper WMA firing range is open again and following its normal schedule. Please read the posted range rules and procedures when you arrive at the range as many rules and procedures have changed following the recent improvement project.

John Sevier Hunter Education Center offers a variety of shooting opportunities including firearms and archery ranges as well as monthly hunter education and boater education classes. Several events are scheduled throughout the year on the various venues in addition to public shooting.
Located near the Halls community, the Center is easily accessible from I-75 via the Callahan Dr. exit or from north Broadway.

Firearms must be cased and unloaded. Eye and ear protection is required.
All shotguns must have a stock (no pistol grips) and only slugs may be shot at the bench rest range.
*Shotgun clays shooting is usually limited to one discipline each day with the following restrictions. Skeet is limited to #9 shot only due to a short fallout zone. Trap and 5-stand are limited to #7 ½, #8, or #9. The 5-stand is scheduled on the 2nd Saturday and 3rd Sunday of each month during Daylight Savings Time. Clays shooting has an additional fee of $7.00 per round (cash only) and is collected at that venue.

Everyone who shoots at the range must purchase an entrance ticket using one of the following forms of Identification. The operator of any motor vehicle on the center will be asked to present a valid driver’s license (It is necessary to drive to the various venues). Otherwise a Tennessee hunting/fishing license or a social security number may be used.
