TWRA’s Region I is located in West Tennessee. Bordered by the Mississippi River on the west and the Tennessee River on the east, Region I is comprised of 25 counties. Region I is rich in diverse habitats. Hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts can experience everything from the cypress and water tupelo wetlands of Reelfoot Lake in the northwest part of the region to the rocky shorelines of Pickwick Lake in the southeast part of the region. The Region I Office is located just east of Jackson, TN on TWRA’s Lake Graham.

Region I is home to ten (10) of TWRA’s family fishing lakes. These lakes are open year-round and are designed and regulated especially for family fishing. These lakes have specially designed fishing piers, easy access to bank fishing spots, picnic spots and most have boats available for rent.

Region I has twenty seven (27) Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and eleven (11) Wildlife Refuges which total for more than 250,000 acres of public access for hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing.

New Wild Hog Regulations

 

TWRA Offering Boating Safety Class In Conjunction With Memphis Mid-South Sports, Boat, & RV Show

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is offering a boating safety class in conjunction with the 2012 Memphis Mid-South Sports, Boat, and RV Show on Saturday, Feb. 18 in the Banquet Room of the Agricenter. The Banquet Room is located near Entrance 3.

Pre-registration is required for the class. The class will begin at 8 a.m. and is expected to conclude by 1 p.m. Participants must have a Type 600 Exam Permit which cost $10 and can be purchased wherever hunting and fishing licenses are sold. Those who successfully complete the course will earn his/her boating education certification and be able to attend the show free of charge.

In addition to the class, the TWRA will also have an area to sell the new 2012-13 hunting and fishing licenses at the show. Licenses will be for sale on Feb. 18-19.
