TDOC To Host 2nd Annual 5K At Historic State Penitentiary

NASHVILLE – As a part of our ongoing effort to support Governor Bill Haslam’s Healthier Tennessee initiative, the Tennessee Department of Correction will hold its 2nd Annual 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, May 16, 2015.  The event will take place at the historic Tennessee State Penitentiary, giving participants an up-close look at the site which has been the setting for movies including The Green Mile and The Last Castle.

Registration is open to the public with a fee of $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.  All proceeds go directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee.  Immediately following the 5K, participants can enjoy family friendly activities. 

Pre-registration is available online at www.tn.gov/correction, with packet pickup and day-of registration available the morning of the event.
