Dora Ivey, Executive Committee

Mid-South Tennessee Representative
Term of Office:  October 1, 2016 – September 30, 2022

Dora Lynn Ivey was born in Selmer, Tennessee and was the fifth of nine children. The family moved to Memphis, and Dora graduated from White Station High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Memphis (1990) and a master's degree in social work from the University of Tennessee (1997). 

Dora currently holds licenses as a Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Certified Social Worker (CMSW). She began her social work career as an eligibility specialist with the Department of Human Services (DHS) and concluded her social work career as Executive Director of the Area Agency on Aging and Disability of the Mid-South (ACMS). Between her work for DHS and ACMS, she was an administrator for the YWCA of Greater Memphis and the YWCA of Central Alabama. She was responsible for domestic violence services, including emergency and transitional housing and family legal centers. Her work included providing services and supports for disabled, special needs, elderly, and homeless individuals. She also served as an adjunct instructor of social work for the University of Alabama.

A graduate of Leadership Bartlett (1993) and Leadership Memphis (2010), Dora looks forward to continuing her work with vulnerable populations. She is appreciative of the opportunity to serve the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability.
