Education

DCS tries to provide educational services that meet the different needs of students, including middle school, high school and special education. Youth are able to earn a traditional high school diploma or a High School Equivalency Diploma (HiSET). And with school held year round, students who have fallen behind have a chance to catch-up.

Wilder educational staff provides individualized services for youth who qualify for special education services and have an Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Those that complete their high school education can take part in a college program, vocational training, or a combination of both. Youth can earn the opportunity for on-the-job training by taking on assigned paid jobs within the facility, such as landscaping, food preparation or janitorial work.

High School Diploma

Students can earn a high school diploma by earning 22 credits in designated core academic areas including English, math, science, social studies, and elective courses. School is held Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Fri.-7:45am-2:30pm; every Weds. school is out by 1:30 to allow for CFTM, Foster Care Review Boards (FCRB) and other staffing to take place.
