Patient Safety Awareness Week
March 10-16, 2024
Join the Tennessee Department of Health HAI/AR Program as we observe Patient Safety Awareness Week (PSAW). The purpose of this annual recognition is to encourage education and practices on safety in healthcare. This year, the Center for Patient Safety (CPS) has developed a toolkit with the theme “Safer Together” (banner above) which can be downloaded here.
Although there has been real progress made in patient safety over the past two decades, current estimates cite medical harm as a leading cause of death worldwide. Preventing harm in health care settings is a public health concern. Through PSAW, we aim to equip our healthcare community with educational resources and preventative measures to increase awareness and improve patient safety outcomes.
