COL Mark Tyndall was born on August 1st, 1974 in Marion, SC as the youngest of two children of Ansel and Ann Tyndall. COL Tyndall earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Clemson University and his Masters degrees from American Military University and the United States Army War College.

COL Tyndall began his military career enlisting in 1991 as a Stinger Missile Crewmember.  After serving five years enlisted, he commissioned through Clemson University ROTC as an Active Duty Infantry Officer in December of 1996. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, the Infantry Captain’s Career Course, Command and General Staff College (ILE), The Advanced Operations Course (AOC), and the United States Army War College.

His current assignment is the Tennessee National Guard Chief of the Joint Staff. His previous military assignments included Airborne Infantry Rifle Platoon Leader and Company XO, Infantry Company Commander, Special Forces Detachment Commander, Squadron Operations Officer, Regimental Plans Officer, JFHQ-TN Deputy G3, Battalion Commander, and JFHQ-TN J5

His deployments include Operation Noble Anvil (Kosovo), Republic of South Korea; Operation Iraqi Freedom I, II, III, and IX (Iraq); Operation Inherent Resolve III and IV (Iraq).

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, the Special Forces tab, the Ranger tab, Master Parachutist badge, the Pathfinder badge, the Combat Action Badge, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

Mark is married to Kimberly and currently live in Brentwood, Tennessee. They have two children; Katie and Jake.
