WIOA Combined State Plan - Approved Modification
Dear Governor Lee:
The U.S. Departments of Labor and Education (Departments) are pleased to inform you that we have approved Tennessee’s modification to the program year (PY) 2016 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Combined State Plan (Combined State Plan or State Plan), covering PY 2018-PY2019.
On February 22, 2019, the State submitted a request to modify its Combined State Plan to include required updates to its Unemployment Insurance State Quality Service Plan. In addition, due to the State’s re-alignment from 13 to 9 local workforce development areas, Tennessee’s WIOA State Plan provides information describing the new local area structure and related impacts on the State’s strategy and operations as required by WIOA Title I. In accordance with the approval process under sections 102 and 103 of WIOA, the Departments approve the State’s modified WIOA State Plan.
We value Tennessee’s commitment to work together with stakeholders and the Departments to support the public workforce system. The Departments will provide technical assistance and monitor Tennessee’s progress on an ongoing basis as we work together to realize the vision of WIOA and implement its programs. The Departments will work with you and your team, as needed, to help Tennessee submit a new four-year State Plan covering PYs 2020-2023 that further reflects the State’s experience in implementing WIOA and the innovations it has undertaken to improve the timeliness and quality of services to jobseekers and employers.
