Saundersville Road

Sumner County

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), in partnership with the City of Hendersonville, plans to construct improvements to Saundersville Road between State Route 386 (Vietnam Veterans Boulevard) and State Route 6 (US 31E, East Main Street) in Sumner County. The project will construct a new alignment for Saundersville Road, which will allow closure of the at-grade CSX railroad crossing at Winston Hills Parkway, with traffic routed under a new railroad bridge. Additionally, the project will include new intersections at US 31E and Saundersville Road, ADA-compliant signals, ramps, and crosswalks, and intersection improvements along the project footprint.

Current Status: Right-of-way acquisition is underway.

Estimated construction start: This project is scheduled in TDOT’s 10-Year Project Plan to begin construction in Fiscal Year 2030.

Estimated completion*: TBD

Funding Type: This project is funded through the Statewide Partnership Program. The City of Hendersonville is providing a portion of the project’s funding, with the remainder funded through the Transportation Modernization Fund and traditional federal and state sources.
