At TDHS, our mission is to build strong families by connecting Tennesseans to employment, education and support services. This section of the TDHS website is dedicated to supporting Tennessee job seekers and employers by providing a virtual platform where they can connect and find related resources. What Is a Resource Fair?
A partnership with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, resource fairs are open to the public and invite job seekers to attend the event to connect with employers, learning opportunities, career development/planning, college preparation, resume writing and volunteer resources. These fairs are also often attended by local employers and business owners who are seeking an opportunity to connect with job seekers. In the past, TDHS has hosted employment and education resource fairs at various locations across the state.
How Is a Virtual Resource Fair Different?
Recent developments surrounding COVID-19 have changed the way TDHS conducts its mission, but it has not changed our commitment to supporting Tennessee families. A virtual resource fair allows potential members of the Tennessee workforce to network with employers and access informational resources while respecting the Center for Disease Control’s recommendations for social interactions during the COVID-19 situation. How the Virtual Resource Fair Works:
- Job seekers register to participate in the fair by Clicking Here to access the virtual resource registration portal. The portal allows job seekers to share their job search goals and interests.
- Job seekers are then contacted with their schedule for the virtual fair based on the job seeker’s interest and the availability of participating employers and support organizations.
- On the day of the fair, job seekers will use a network connected device to have virtual meetings/conferences and share resumes with employers based on their schedule.
