Firewood Collection for Home Use

Tennessee State Forests offer areas to collect firewood for home use with the issuance of a free permit. Each forest has dedicated Firewood Harvest Areas to collect firewood for home use. Maps depicting these areas are linked on each forests’ webpage and include the phone number to call for a free firewood collection permit.

Potential collection areas include:

·         Collection along certain roadsides within 100 feet of the road.

·         In and around designated forest cemeteries.

·         Old log landings from completed timber sales.

·         Other areas as designated by State Forest personnel.

For more information, call the permit number listed on each map and see the official rules below: “Free Use Areas for Firewood Removal”
