The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is proposing to conduct spot improvements along State Route 8 (US 127, Signal Mountain Boulevard). The proposed project includes repairs and upgrades to drainage systems, slope stabilization at various locations and rock fall mitigation. These improvements will reduce potential roadway failures and improve drainage, making Signal Mountain Boulevard a safer and more reliable route.

This project is identified for funding in TDOT's 10-Year Project Plan, with construction scheduled for Fiscal Year 2026.

Current Status: Right-of-way (ROW) acquisition is underway

Traffic Impacts

During construction, the road will be reduced to one lane with temporary signals to control the flow of traffic along the two-lane segment of State Route 8 (Signal Mountain Blvd) which is above the Space House and continuing to the top of the mountain. 

There will be no closures during the World’s Longest Yard Sale. 

There will be constant coordination with first responders and local route users before and during any planned closures.
