Training Resources

Training is a major component of the Tennessee Emergency Communications Board’s Strategic Plan. The Tennessee legislature gave the Board over the responsibility to determine the initial and continuing education of any person that answers an initial or transferred 911 call within Tennessee.  The Board promulgated rules under Tenn. Code Ann. 7-86-205 to set these minimum standards and updates them as necessary.

The Board assists local jurisdictions in meeting this requirement by providing tuition-free, high quality training and education to any person that answers an initial or transferred 911 call within Tennessee.  Training related to 911 operations and management are proffered via in-person and online coursework.  In addition to 911 operations and management training, the Board also provides training to Geographical Information System (GIS) professionals to enhance trade-skills pertinent to 911 addressing, call routing, and emergency services response.
