Interstate 40 Interchange at McCrory Lane

Davidson County

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), in partnership with Metro Nashville, plans to construct improvements to the Interstate 40 interchange at McCrory Lane. The project was identified for funding in Governor Bill Lee’s Fiscal Year 2023 budget. TDOT anticipates the project will include acceleration and deceleration lanes on I-40, improvements to the interchange ramps, and realignment and widening of McCrory Lane near the interchange. These improvements are intended to address geometric and safety deficiencies in the project’s footprint and accommodate increasing traffic volumes.

Current Status: Preliminary engineering is underway.

Estimated construction start: This project is scheduled in TDOT’s 10-Year Project Plan to begin construction in Fiscal Year 2029.

Estimated completion*: TBD

Funding Type: This project is funded through the Statewide Partnership Program. Metro Nashville is providing a portion of the project’s funding, with the remainder funded through the 2023 General Fund Transfer and traditional federal and state sources.
